Cloud Radio Access Network System and Implementation for 5G Seamless Connection

Abstract: Based on the flexible function splitting ability of cloud radio access network (C-RAN), a C-RAN architecture of seamless connection was presented for the fifth generation of mobile communications system (5G). Then the demonstration platform of the proposed C-RAN architecture was built based on OpenAirInterface, which is an open source virtualization enabled software-defined radio system. The built C-RAN demonstration platform realized all the communication function of standard 5G, which can not only connect the virtualized core network, but also support efficient and seamless connection of user equipment. This demonstration platform has high scalability, so that it can be continuously updated according to the new demand and application scenario of 5G.
