Abstract: Based on the hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) transmission strategy, an incremental redundancy HARQ (IR-HARQ) retransmission scheme with flexible retransmission location suitable for the fifth generation of mobile communications system (5G) low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes was proposed. Compared with the existed scheme in 5G standard, this new transmission scheme has low decoding complexity and decoding delay for the same transmission length. Simulation results also showed that the proposed IR-HARQ scheme outperformed the 5G HARQ retransmission scheme over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with different modulation constellations and different transmission code rates.
