高速数字光通信系统中高阶PMD限制研究

摘要: 从高阶偏振模色散(PMD)的定义出发,在所建立的高阶PMD数值模型的基础上,通过数值模拟的方法探讨了高阶PMD对于40 Gbit/s NRZ系统的影响。计算结果显示,当PMD大于8 ps时,在一阶PMD完全补偿的情况下,高阶PMD所造成的眼图代价将大于2 dB。这表明在高速数字光纤通信系统中,高阶PMD效应已经十分明显且不容忽略。

Abstract: The definition of higher-order polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is presented firstly in this paper. Then, based on the numerical model of higher-order PMD introduced in it, the impact of higher-order PMD on the 40 Gbit/s NRZ systems is discussed with numerical simulation. The result shows that if the PMD is higher than 8ps, eye-opening penalty due to only higher-order PMD will be larger than 2 dB. This demonstrates that the effect of higher-order PMD on the high bit-rate digital fiber communication systems is very obvious and cannot be neglected.
