Sign Prediction for Wavelet Transform CoefficientsBased on Activity Measure

Abstract: The sign coding of the image compression algorithm based on the wavelet transform is analyzed.To solve the problem that it is hard to compress the equally distributed wavelet coefficient signs,a sign prediction algorithm is proposed using the activity measure of the image.The simulation indicates that the prediction error has the property of unequally distributed probability, which results to more efficient sign compression.
