Abstract: A new ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-access scheme, waveform division multiple access (WDMA) based on the orthogonal wavelet function shapes, is presented. In this new scheme, the scaling function (t) and the wavelet function ψ(t) are designed as UWB pulses, which are uniformly distributed to the users to realize multiple access. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that our WDMA UWB system has larger capacity than the traditional TH-PPM(timehopping-pulse position modulation ) and DS-BPM(direct sequence-bi-polarity modulation).
