Abstract: A network management information model is an important component of network management interfaces, and its quality will directly affect the performance of these interfaces and even affect the development of a network management system. So it is very necessary to evaluate the quality of management information models (MIMs). In this paper, based on the characteristics of MIMs, the definition of network management information model quality is given in the following three aspects: the function of MIMs, the abstraction of management resources, and the layering of MIMs. According to this definition, a MIMs quality metrics system is presented, which serves as the core of a MIMs quality evaluation model. Besides, the MIMs quality evaluation method, evaluation process and evaluation application are also introduced in the evaluation model, which makes the model a theoretical direction for the further study on this topic.
