Scalable Reliable Multicast Protocal Using Active FEC

Abstract

Abstract: The problem of localizing the repair packets when packets are lost during multicast is studied. A new protocol which combines the advantage of FEC and active network technology is presented. In this proposal, repair packets can only reach the receivers that need them and thus the consumption of network bandwidth and receivers' computing capability is reduced. The overhead of this proposal is alsovery small.
