Abstract: The simulation of the interplay between crosstalk and nonlinear propagation using software is presented. The result shows that the interplay between crosstalk and nonlinear propagation will decrease the performance of the optical transport networks. Because of the MI induced by SPM, the BER is not the worst casewhen the crosstalk and the main signal have the same frequency; on the other hand, BER is worse for the case that the crosstalk and the main signal have different frequency. The simulation result also shows that we should keep crosstalk induced by optical network node bellow 40 dB for a long distance transmission optical network.
