A New Simple Model of Video Traffic on ATM Networks

Abstract: A lot of video traffics have long range dependence, and their marginal distributions on many time scales are similar to Gamma distributions.For this reason, the paper presents a new simple video traffic model.Themodel has long range dependence, and its marginal distribution is logarithm normal distribution which approximates the Gamma distribution with the same mean value and variance. As a result, the model can reflects the first and second-order statistical properties of real video traffics well.In simulation, by analyzingqueue performance, the effectiveness of the proposed model is also testified.
